What is Zoning? A Workshop by Rosten Woo

  • Skid Row History Museum & Archive 250 South Broadway Los Angeles, CA, 90012 United States (map)

Who does it serve and why should you care?  Zoning law regulates land use across the city, and shapes buildings, blocks, and whole neighborhoods. It can be a tool for preservation or for rapid physical and economic development. But how does it work? And why is it so controversial?

This hands-on workshop uses games and activities that Rosten Woo developed with The Center for Urban Pedagogy (CUP) and Dr. Pop to teach zoning fundamentals and explore the technical and ethical questions behind the laws of the land.
