Communications Intern

About the Internship

We are a small non-profit organization dedicated to art and architecture. You are a self-motivated and creative person interested in art and architectural engagement and curious about the triumphs and challenges of non-profit work.

You have strong organizational skills, close attention to detail and experience with Google Docs and Adobe Creative Suite. You are an awesome collaborator. You are eager to learn, get your hands dirty if necessary and, of utmost importance, you have an intellectual curiosity for contemporary art and architecture culture. Your daily tasks will range from communications with our audience to general operations support, including website updates, mailing list, and social media management. The Communications Intern will be exposed to the full spectrum of operations at Materials & Applications, with a focus in areas specific to communications. 

 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Work with the Executive Director to generate internal and external program communications, including printed collateral and social media

  • Capture and edit images for communications, grants and other M&A media-related purposes

  • Translate or manage translation of program-related documents and collateral

  • Design and develop M&A's monthly newsletter & announcements

You are someone who

  • has a knowledge of contemporary architectural practices

  • is highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and self-starting

  • enjoys working with architects and artist teams and is willing to expand their understanding of critical practices in architecture

  • has a broad range of skills, from practical computer skills and administrative abilities to non-profit experience

  • has leadership attributes with an ability to work independently, or with a variety of constituents, including non-profit boards and practicing architects and artists

  • has strong interpersonal and written communication skills

  • is proficient with Google Drive with excellent analytic skills and fluency with budgets
